“True Blood” and “Entourage” Fans Can Earn Rewards From GetGlue iPhone App

The U.S. Government has said that iPhone owners are now legally allowed to jailbreak their phones for “educational” purposes. This law was passed along with a host of other changes to 1998′s Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) anti-circumvention protections.

A couple of the other exemptions of note…

To bypass video game protections in order to investigate or correct security flaws
For used cellphone owners to unlock phones so that they can be switched to another wireless carrier (this was a renewal of a 2006 exemption)
For college professors, film students and documentary filmmakers to break the copy-protect measures on DVDs for embedding clips for educational purposes, criticism or in noncommercial videos

That second one combined with the jailbreaking freedom is huge. Especially for 3G owners like myself. We have a right to not be forced to purchase the iPhone 4 and continue our phones, even on other carriers (hello T-Mobile!).
